Mary Meeker's annual Internet Trends report is usually full of good stuff and this year is no exception. We already covered her comments about mobile monetization and the Facebook IPO, but one of the most interesting sections of her presentation were her thoughts about the future of the Internet. In her view, technology has already allowed us to re-imagine everything from book to news to note taking to crime awareness. Still, according to her, "we are still in spring training" and "the magnitude of upcoming change will be stunning."

This is the final installment of creative ideas from the June 2012 issue of Fast Company featuring its list of?The 100 Most Creative People in Business 2012. These final thirty-six creative storytelling and creative process tips, as with the other from earlier ones, were all inspired by individual profiles on on the?Fast Company 100 Most Creative People in Business list.

I hope this slightly different take on The Most Creative People in Business list profiles has been helpful now and in the future. This contract is part of GSA?s efforts to adhere to President Obama?s orders of reducing energy usage in federal buildings by 30% by the year 2015. As per the contract IBM will be responsible for the development and implementation of a building monitoring system which will feed data to a central location. Further analysis will be done on this data, based on which decisions will be taken. The smart building technology will integrate prominent building controls in real-time after which GSA will use fresh data feed for its analysis and decisions.

After complete integration, tenants of the building that are part of this network will be able to view the energy performance of their buildings in real time metrics and dashboards. This will further provide information on the amount of energy savings achieved which will help them to come up with more suggestions to reduce cost and increase savings.

Egypt's Brotherhood would keep Israel treaty: Carter

CAIRO (Reuters) - The Muslim Brotherhood may seek to modify, but will not destroy, Egypt's 33-year-old peace treaty with Israel, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said on Saturday.

Carter, 87, was speaking after initial vote tallies put the Brotherhood's candidate ahead in the first round of Egypt's presidential election, which his Carter Center helped monitor.

The U.S. statesman, who brought together Israeli leader Menachem Begin and Egypt's Anwar Sadat in 1978 to agree the Camp David accords which led to a 1979 treaty, said he had held long discussions with senior Brotherhood figures in Egypt this week.

"My opinion is that the treaty will not be modified in any unilateral way," Carter said at a news conference in Cairo to present the preliminary findings of his election monitors.

Official results in Egypt's first free leadership election are due on Tuesday, but informal tallies put the Brotherhood's Mohamed Mursi and Mubarak's last Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq in the lead. If confirmed, they would fight a run-off in June.

Hamdeen Sabahy, a leftist who has championed Palestinian resistance against Israel, was running a close third.

The peace treaty remains a lynchpin of U.S./Middle East policy and, despite its unpopularity with many Egyptians, was staunchly upheld by President Hosni Mubarak until his overthrow last year in a popular uprising.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) ? Opening a new, entrepreneurial era in spaceflight, a ship built by a billionaire businessman sped toward the International Space Station with a load of groceries and other supplies Tuesday after a spectacular middle-of-the-night blastoff.

The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket and its unmanned Dragon capsule marked the first time a commercial spacecraft has been sent to the orbiting outpost.

Tracing a fiery arc across the night sky, the rocket lifted off just before 4 a.m. and smoothly boosted the capsule into orbit. The capsule is expected to rendezvous with the space station within days, delivering a half-ton of provisions for its six crew members.

It is considered just a test flight ? in fact, the capsule was packed with only nonessential items, in case something went disastrously wrong ? but if all goes well with this mission and others like it, commercial spaceships could be carrying astronauts to and from the space station in three to five years.

"Falcon flew perfectly!!" billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, founder of the SpaceX company, said via Twitter. "Feels like a giant weight just came off my back."

Musk later told reporters: "For us, it's like winning the Super Bowl."

Up to now, flights to the space station were something only major governments had done.

The White House offered congratulations.

"Every launch into space is a thrilling event, but this one is especially exciting," said John Holdren, President Barack Obama's chief science adviser. "This expanded role for the private sector will free up more of NASA's resources to do what NASA does best ? tackle the most demanding technological challenges in space, including those of human spaceflight beyond low-Earth orbit."

NASA is looking to the private sector to take over flights to the space station now that the space shuttle has been retired. Several U.S. companies are vying for the opportunity.

"The significance of this day cannot be overstated," said a beaming NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. "It's a great day for America. It's actually a great day for the world because there are people who thought that we had gone away, and today says, 'No, we're not going away at all.'"

Flight controllers applauded when the Dragon reached orbit nine minutes into the flight. Then they embraced once the solar panels on the craft popped open. Many of the SpaceX controllers wore untucked T-shirts, jeans or shorts, a stark contrast to NASA's suit-and-tie shuttle crowd.

A previous launch attempt, on Saturday, was aborted with a half-second left in the countdown because of a bad valve in one of Falcon's nine engines.

Another important test comes Thursday when the Dragon draws close to the space station. It will undergo practice maneuvers from more than a mile out. If all goes well, docking will occur on Friday. Musk will preside from the company's Mission Control in Hawthorne, Calif.

Since the shuttle's retirement last summer, American astronauts have been hitching rides to the space station aboard Russian rockets, and Russian, Japanese and European ships have been delivering supplies.

SpaceX has spent more than $1 billion on the project.

Musk, the 40-year-old entrepreneur who helped create PayPal and runs the electric car company Tesla Motors, has poured in millions of his own fortune, and NASA has contributed $381 million in seed money in a venture that has been likened to the public-private collaboration that built the Internet and won the West.

Even Musk's rivals were rooting for a successful flight.

"The shuttle may be retired, but the American dream of space exploration is alive and well," said Mark Sirangelo, chairman of Sierra Nevada Corp.'s space systems, which is developing a mini-shuttle to carry space station crews in a few years.

The Dragon capsule will stay at the space station for a week and then splash down in the Pacific, bringing back experiments and equipment. None of the other cargo ships now in use are designed to return safely; they burn up on the way down.

Two more Dragon supply missions are planned this year, regardless of what happens this week.

The rocket also blasted into orbit around the Earth the ashes of more than 300 people, including Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper and actor James Doohan, who played Scotty on "Star Trek." The ashes were in a section of the rocket that was jettisoned during the climb into space.

The upbeat assessment was seen as significant ahead of broader, more substantive talks to take place on Wednesday in Baghdad between an Iranian delegation led by Jalili and representatives of world powers in the so-called P5+1 group.

"Certainly the progress of these talks will have a positive effect on Iran and the P5+1 negotiations. Of course these two issues are different from one another, but can underpin each other," Amano was quoted as saying.

Iranian officials, however, did not permit foreign journalists to approach Amano, so it was impossible to independently verify his comments.

Amano's reported comments gave no indication of agreement on specific areas the IAEA chief had set out to bridge.

A diplomatic source at IAEA headquarters in Vienna, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that, while Amano's talks had been good and could be followed with further discussions, no breakthrough was made.

IRIB said that Iran's lead nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, lauded the "good talks" he had with Amano.

"We had very good talks with Amano and, God willing, we will have good cooperation in the future," he said.

And Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, after his own face-to-face with Amano, "expressed satisfaction over the opening of a new constructive path in Iran-agency cooperation" that "emanates from mutual trust and understanding."

Amano during his meetings discussed nuclear disarmament, halting nuclear weapons proliferation, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy as permitted under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, IRIB said.

There was also discussion of "consolidating" the UN nuclear surveillance agency to make it more effective in pursuing those goals, it added.

One area of contention was hinted at, however, when Amano reacted to Iran's insistence that a "road map" be established for its response to IAEA suspicions of nuclear weapons research.

"I will not get into details," he was quoted as saying. "The agency has its own view and Iran has its own."

That had bearing on the UN agency's demands -- repeatedly rebuffed by Tehran -- that it be given access to a key military installation, Parchin, outside Tehran, where the IAEA suspects explosives tests for nuclear warhead research have been conducted.

Iran says Parchin is not a designated nuclear site and thus it is not obliged to permit IAEA inspections, although it last did so in 2005.

It says if it did allow inspections of the site, they would have to be part of an agreed "road map" that would address the IAEA's concerns in a set order.

Iran has denied IAEA and Western suspicions that it has embarked on any nuclear weapons work.

Amano had said before leaving for Tehran that, while he was going into the discussions with a positive mindset, his one-day visit was too short to carry out in-depth work such as inspections.

The results of his talks will inevitably flow into the Baghdad discussions to take place on Wednesday between Jalili and representatives of the P5+1 -- comprising veto-wielding UN Security Council permanent members Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States, plus Germany.

A European diplomat in Brussels said, though, that the Western nations involved in the Baghdad talks were looking to Iran to halt its enrichment of uranium to 20 percent purity, which put it close to the 90 percent level needed to make atomic bombs.

Giving the IAEA access to Parchin would be "important but not sufficient," the diplomat said.

Iran, on its side, wants to see Western sanctions targeting its vital oil and financial sectors eased. Although Iranian officials insist they are having no effect, foreign analysts, traders and international agencies affirm the contrary.

Those sanctions are programmed to be ratcheted up further in just over a month's time, when US and EU measures aimed at blocking Iran's foreign oil sales come fully into effect.

The United Nations has also imposed its own set of sanctions on Iran in a series of resolutions that call for the Islamic republic to suspend all uranium enrichment -- something Tehran has repeatedly refused to do.

The spectre of military action against Iran by the United States or its ally Israel -- the sole if undeclared nuclear weapons state in the Middle East -- looms should the P5+1 nuclear talks fail to make headway.

Acura says there are some 52,615 cars affected by the recall in the U.S. alone.

According to the automaker the power steering hoses on the affected cars may have deteriorated over time, causing a fluid leak to develop.

Leaking power steering fluid could lead to loss of power steering assistance. Furthermore, if the fluid leaks onto a catalytic converter or other parts of the exhaust system it may result in smoke or, in the worst case, fire.

Acura is making the announcement to encourage owners to take their cars to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of the recall directly from the automaker. Mailed notification to customers will begin in June.

The National Highway Traffic?Safety?Administration (NHTSA) is yet to list the latest Honda recall on its website but concerned TL owners can gather more information by visiting the webpage www.recalls.acura.com or by contacting Acura on (800) 382-2238 and selecting option 4.

So far, no crashes, injuries or fires have been reported related to this issue.?

Rush: Donna Summer was 'right-winger'

Rush Limbaugh expressed grief on his radio show over the passing of Donna Summer Thursday, stating, among other things, that she was a ?right-winger? and ?one of us.?

The conservative talk show host began his tribute to the disco icon, who died of cancer?Thursday?at the age of 63, by playing some of her music, then later providing his own personal take on her life and work.

?I met Donna Summer one time and her husband on an airplane. She and her husband, after the flight took off, came up to me and introduced themselves, and we had a nice conversation,? Limbaugh recalled. ?They were one of us. They were. That's what they wanted to come tell me.?

Further elaborating on Summer?s apparently similar mindset, the radio figure added, ?She came to hate the smut on the radio. She was not a fan of rap music at all.?

Summer became a born-again Christian in 1979, and even refused to perform one of her biggest hits, "Love to Love You Baby," which includes sexual moans. But according to People magazine, she changed her mind and recorded the song for a fragrance ad in 2011, complete with moans.

As far as Summer's opinion of rap and hip-hop, her nephew is the hip hop artist O?Mega Red, and in April, she was featured on a track with him. Red, who is also a record producer and actor, is a two-time recipient of the New England Urban Music Awards Rap Artist of the Year, and has spoken about his famous familial connection in the past.

?It?s certainly great to be associated with my aunt, and we have done some records with her,? the artist said in an interview with Rap N? Blues. ?But there?s certainly no golden ticket nor did I ever expect that there would be.?

Following the news of her death, the rapper responded to notes on his Twitter page, ?Thank You twitter and everyone for your blessing I'm doing the best that I can right now.?

Report: Google Planning Five New Android Jellybean 'Lead Devices'

Google reportedly plans to give multiple mobile device makers early access to its next version of Android in an attempt to create a more robust ecosystem to take on Apple and also to reassure partners that its Motorola Mobility acquisition won't squeeze them out.

The new strategy would be a major shift away from Google's current practice of working with a single maker of smartphones or tablets on a "lead device" based on a new Android release, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing unnamed sources.

Google's strategy with its Android mobile operating system has already shifted several times over the years. In early 2010, the search giant produced its own co-branded Android-based smartphone, the Nexus One but had shut down that venture by the summer of that year as sales of other Android-based phones began to take off.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Google was planning to once again begin selling co-branded Android-based devices built by third-party device makers through its own online store. Another take on that report was that Google would manufacture its own Android tablets this year through Motorola Mobility, the consumer arm of Motorola that Google acquired for $12.5 billion in 2011, and sell them in the online store.

But if that venture remains on track, it seems Google may want to involve key hardware partners in the launch of new Android products instead of hitting the market first with its own in-house devices or smartphones and tablets built by a single partner.

Google could launch new devices running its next version of Android, dubbed Jellybean, with as many as five manufacturers, according to the WSJ, which said a source described a "portfolio of 'Nexus' lead devices that include smartphones and tablets" that's due to arrive by Thanksgiving.

Those smartphones and tablets would be sold unlocked in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, via the Google online store and through certain retailers, the newspaper reported. Buyers would have to fork out more for a device and purchase contracts from carriers separately, but users would also be able to run apps like Google Wallet that are blocked by some carriers on subsidized phones, the WSJ noted.

Google also "hopes the effort will help rev up sales of Android-powered tablets, which have lagged behind Apple's iPad and Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle Fire," the paper reported.
