SUMMARY
Installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users by performing the following duties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED: Bachelor?s degree or higher in a related field (computer science, information technology, computer engineering technology, applied computer science, etc.). -AND- A minimum of two years of related work experience (IT administration, technical support, etc.). Additional years of related work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
PREFERRED: Work experience with Tools, Equipment, and Programs Used as listed in this Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
-Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations.
-Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, other network and system, and operator problems, and replaces defective components when necessary.
-Plans, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
-Configures, monitors, and maintains email applications and virus protection software.
-Confers with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
-Inspects computer equipment and prepares computer for installation.
-Installs or assists personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives.
-Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing programs, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
-Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
-Implements and provides technical support for voice services and equipment, such as private branch exchange, voice mail system, and telecom system.
-Trains people in computer system use.
-Coordinates with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate purchases.
-Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
-Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
-Subject to after-hours and emergency calls and responses.
-Other duties may be assigned.

-Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
-Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
-Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess valid State of Mississippi Drivers License or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
